Mindful Transitions

Following the very rewarding Mind Fit and Creative project in 2017, Prospero and Mind Fitness are thrilled to announce Mindful Transitions, to take place in 2018.

Mindful Transitions is an educational project funded by The Community Foundation for Surrey and Youth Social Action.

In the first stage: two actor-teachers will work with pupils from 3 local special schools to develop a Mind Fitness workshop with the objectives of reducing stress, building motivation and releasing creative potential. The exercises will be embedded into a story, using drama as a developmental tool.

The pupils from each of these secondary special schools will then work with Prospero’s practitioners to deliver the workshop in six primary schools, working with years 5 and 6.

Director, Beth Wood, said ‘the objectives of the project are to build relationships between schools, to impart the Mind Fitness techniques and to develop the confidence and ability to lead in the secondary special school students. We have done several projects which bring schools together and have always found them fantastically creative. It is always remarkable and incredibly rewarding to see the special school pupils rise to the occasion. We are starting the planning now and look forward to beginning the practical work in the New Year.
