When Daisies Talk By Mica Montana

A series of poems that explore identity, spirituality, mental health, diagnosis, healing and the transformational potential of depressive and psychotic episodes. The poet is a young psychologist at the forefront of her career who through her own lived experiences, learnt that sometimes those experiences we call ‘break downs’ are necessary for the ‘breaking through’ of self and soul.

I need to have a Word with you – Memoir By Michael Hartigan

I Need to Have a Word with You is an autobiographical mental health memoir by young writer and performer Michael Hartigan. It is a moving perspective on the way the world changes for a young man with autism when the safe spaces he needed so badly prove treacherous.

Talk by James Scurry of Safely Held Spaces

Safely Held Spaces is an inspirational organisation that helps people who are experiencing mental health distress find safe, compassionate and supportive spaces in their local communities.

Films by Freewheelers

Steep Rain (5 mins)

Freewheelers Theatre and Media Company presents ‘Steep Rain’ stemmed from a survey the company conducted about attitudes to disability recording people’s views out on the street, the film has been made to try and help bridge the gap between non-disabled and disabled people – which is often caused by lack of knowledge and understanding on one side and lack of confidence on the other.

One in a Million (10 mins)

Working for inspiration with Chris Wood’s song ‘One in a Million’, the Freewheelers Youth Theatre present this charming film interpretation of the story of Billy who works in Batemans Fish and Chip shop and his secret desire for Peggy Sue, the shop owner’s daughter. It seems that love is thwarted at every turn until fate takes a strange and wonderful twist.

Moment(o)s by Elaine Paton – Play

‘Mentally cracking up, the self you know fractures, rupturing the ground you stand on. Inexpressible interior sensations, hidden from the outside eye, lurk beneath the surface, threatening to engulf any of us at any time.’
Moment(o)s, in the tradition of Cabaret, exposes the hidden, challenges the status quo and revels in celebrating the socially unacceptable in a subversive romp through the vicissitudes of mental breakdown. Based on Elaine’s autobiographical experiences, this production will be a combination of film and live performance.
